the best way wud be a payment for leaving. 1k or somit but this way cud prob be easily got away with i guess like taking no money wid u
but the 5-10 min time ban is great!
What I've noticed more today (Saturday) than yesterday, is the amount of people joining battles and quitting and saying like "LUXON SUCKS" or something. Yes, I've been playing for Luxon :P Someone messages me and told me to go the Kurzick side and see why. So I went ahead and went over there, and there were people forming parties to come over to Luxon side to do nothing but quit, or die repeatedly for other teams mm. They need to be able to fix that somehow also. Maybe later on when you get chosen a side, you can only do alliance battles on that side. Because the quitting/flaming is getting rather annoying. Me and some guildies were just in a battle where 6 people quit right at the beginning. Now I don't know if anyone has any ideas for that, but any would be apprecited. Maybe we'll get lucky and Anet will read them
Ok so your saying like if something happened in real life, like say someone couldn't come to a football game because his wifes water broke and is having her baby now, that he should be penalized a $50 fine?
Leavers will leave, even if you punish them. Half the people doing these new things have NEVER pvped at all, and don't know what to do. I hope you get err7 and your computer blows up because you left a 12v12.
This will never work. Imagine this (happened to me today twice):
You are with your alliance, and you are going through a mission. One person has a connection issue, so he has to drop. To be fair to him, the rest of the group drops and reforms. Why should they all be time banned? How much outcry would there be if this went in to effect?

We're not talking about PvE right now. It's only PvP.
I'll agree that the PvE one needs re-working. I am confident about the PvP one however.
Leaving groups in PvP and PvE has been an issue since day one with GW. I seriously doubt that Anet is going to change anything, especially since they didn't incorporate it into Factions.
Personally, I don't think anyone should be penalized for leaving. Why should anyone have to suffer being in a group where players are scribbling on the HUD, making rude comments in chat, or exhibiting other idiotic behavior? Players leave for a lot of very valid reasons and shouldn't get a penalty of any kind.
True statement - I myself have done this after some seriously rude behavior by fellow members. It most definately would not be fair for me to get a time ban for exercising my right to not have to deal with that kind of behavior.
I hear it all Before, was anything done about it? NO, will they listen NO, are we Happy NO.
and this was/and still is a major problem in PvE before it got to PvP.
If people drop in PvP normally on the next duel/arena/fight whatever you want to call it you get a replacement in PvE if someone drops you don’t get a replacement you just have to do the whole mission with 1 person short.
What would you do to the ones that just sit there and do nothing? Like they are AFK they get points in PvP and get rushed in PvE without doing anything.
Well we can only hope that they would do something about it.

There are many possible solutions proposed and discussed, in an attempt to fix the issue of massive amount of rage quiters in the 12 vs 12 Alliance Battles.
It's not just the err7 disconnections that people have to suffer from. What if their system overheats or just plain crashes. Several people have reported this to happen and I've had my laptop ocassionally cut out for various reasons of it's own. Why should they all be penalised for something outwith their control just cos it was inconvenient for you to lose a member of your team? It's inconvenient that it happens full stop. Adding punishment to the issue just because there are a few perfect elitist idiots out there that think everything's black and white, and their PVP battle is all that's important says just makes it worse.
The fair way to remedy it all? If someone's thrown out for any reason, err7 disconnection, overall closing of the GW client when their PC crashed OR if they chose to leave, the only thing that should happens is that the facility be there to add a henchie of your choice. The group leader could have an option panel be enabled if the group drops a member at any time so they can choose the henchie they want to replace that member with until the end of the battle (or until they're replaced by a real person in a town/outpost/arena). It could be quick, it could be simple, and it won't have to be some sort of blanket punishment that catches the innocent caught in the middle.
Ideally a not-too-difficult-to-implement solution that keeps the GW community together and not one that segregates those with PC or client issues from those lucky enough to have perfect gaming sessions.
/signed so many times that if I typed them all out my fingers would start to bleed! And its not like this would be hard to do: when someone mapzones from an RA or RA style map they're sending a command to the server. have the server send the lockout as part of the "Map zone request recieved" bundle.
well theres a big problem with doing this. heres an example:
a lil kid is on and hes playing the 12 v 12 next thing you know his
mom yells "son time to eat"
son "ok mom one minute"
mom" i said time to eat dammit now git ur RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOn ass at the table"
son " but mom"
mom "YOU GROUNDED GIT OFF GUILDWARS RIGHT NOW"
etc
so umm yeah u catch my drift?

5 min ban....
Eating too fast is not good for you anyway
same goes to all those who say "what if its something important need to take care of??"
ITS 5 MIN....go take care of those "important" stuff of yours then come back, you wont even know you are banned

...or am I just too fairly minded? *blink*
5 minute ban. If your computer overheats, well, unless you can get it up in 2.3 nanoseconds, you ain't gonna be suffering much.

Yer so what you do is when you want to rage quit, unplug your modem/router wait 10 seconds plug it back in, connect and log back on to Guild Wars. That way the game will see it as a connection error and you in effect only get a 1 min down time of play instead of 5min.
People will just go afk and when you win they did nothing and still get the points. If that makes you feel better...
There will always be problems with random teams and sometimes you get really bad teams, can't blame people who want to save their time when they know that there's a loss coming up (altough I agree that most of them leave too early to even tell the outcome).
Last night was the first night I had a chance to do the mission at Etnaron (i.e. 500 points or bust!). I was playing for the Luxons, and the end score was, no lie, 47 to 500. With that said, it was a good match, I felt like I was learning a lot.
Today, I join to do it again, figuring that I can perhaps try a new strategy or something, and we end up with a guy on our team that you're all familiar with - Angry Know-It-All Guy. He's drawing on the map, cursing, angry because he's wanting people to go to a certain point and not having enough sense to realize, since this is all NEW to everyone, that some people might not know what he's talking about. He's typing in capital letters, and no one is saying anything to him because... we were all fighting the opposing team. Finally I spoke up, because I knew everyone was getting annoyed with him, and then he proceeds to swear at me, and calling everyone, basically, morons. I was || this close to leaving the game.
Then I thought about it... that's probably one of the many things that happens to people to make them leave before the match is over. So I agree with a lot of what people are saying, but I think a few things need to be in place. Somehow, it should be a group decision if the person is penalized. Like.. if someone bolts, at the end of the match, a box should pop up, and everyone remaining on the team gets a vote - give the quitter a penalty or not. I like the idea of a replacement being able to come in immediately upon such a game interruption, too.
The other thing I'd like to see, if a penalty is implemented, is that you should be able to boot someone from your team by majority vote, and also have them replaced by a henchman. That way, even in the random arenas, you won't get stuck with someone on your team that isn't pulling their weight, or causing some other disturbance.
It's a shame, because since having GW I've only played PvE, and now that I want to learn PvP/GvG, I run into people like the above example all the time, and all they do, really, is make you not want to play with anyone. It's a shame.. my sis and I have pre-ordered Factions, and people keep giving me reasons to sell it on eBay.
Something must be done about leavers and they should recieve penalties for leaving intentionally. Perhaps you lose faction AND have to wait a cirtain amount of time. You should be able to leave after the match is over or they should add a feature where you can form a party and send global invites to anyone on your guild/friend's list. This way, you can accept a game invite and be excused from the match without any penalty.
